Q: What is this website about?

A: This website has been created to display the IS 567 Issues paper of Bobby Maisnam.

Information Science 567 (Information Network Applications) is a course offered in the Department of Information Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The instructor is Dr. Gretchen Whitney.

Q: Why did you take a domain name for a term paper !!!

A: I was initially going to upload the paper to my UT webspace. But then I thought - how about getting a domain for the paper itself! And information about domain names and websites was one of the topics taught in this course. So, I thought that this would be a practical implementation of what we had learnt in class.

Q: But why SearchAnalysis.info ?

A: Well, SearchAnalysis.net and SearchAnalysis.org were also available. But I had very less time (less than 8 hours). So, I decided to go for the .info domain name. I registered the domain name today (4/28/2004) morning around 9 am. And it showed up in less than 20 mins! The reason for the fast DNS and nameservers propagation (as opposed to the typical 2 days for .com and .net domains) is because the .info domains are handled by UltraDNS.

Also the name seemed appropriate. SearchAnalysis.info - "Information about analysis of Search Engines" :) .

Q: What are your future plans about this website?

A: The domain name will be active for one year. And I intend to keep it live even after that. Maybe I will start writing about my experiences with search engines. So that when people drop by, maybe they might find some info which is useful to them.
